a room of one's own

Welcome to my new home:
The front porch.
The back yard.
The front of the house.
The beautiful kitchen window.
And my new room!
My bedroom is finally like a forest, which is something I've wanted for a long, long time. I got the birch tree window panels at Ikea and decided to hang them behind my bed! (I like beds to be under trees). Someday when I have a house, I want to paint my own bedroom trees! I got this beautiful white wrought iron bed at Ikea, as well. It's my first full-sized bed and I love it.
At left, painting table, and at right, writing desk (which I found for free on the side of the road!).
This will be really cluttered with paints in about 12 hours.
My beautiful new bookcase! I finally have a bookcase big enough to easily house all my books (although I still need to bring a ton of them here).
poetry and short story books.
vintage (books, people, and one-eyed cat - special because my dog had one eye, and because we had a black cat). That's Frida and Diego on the black easel.
When I was walking back to the house tonight, a possum ran across my new street. It feels just like home, with all our nocturnal creatures. I live next door to a dog named Jack, who I can see from my window through out the day! My street is beautiful and tree-lined, and yet I am a 5 minute walk from city life. I love it.
I've been exploring my new area and taking lots of pictures, so I'll probably do a post on all the beautiful houses I've been seeing. I also live near the park where I used to walk Nikko, which makes me very happy. I visited it the other day and read on a bench while birds played in the fountain (it's for children on hot days so it only runs for 5 minute blocks. I kept pushing the button for the birds. :)
I hope you all had an excellent Monday/Labor Day!
Love,
Amanda

I just love you new house! That front porch is so great, I've always wished to live in house that had a nice big one. Your room is so adorable. I particularly love your bookcase and your bed, I've seen that same one at IKEA and wanted it ;)

Thank you for the sweet comments, everyone.
That yellow chair reminds me of an old ice cream parlor. It was $30 at an antique store (that has since closed down) in my home town. I held off until it was on sale for $10, and then my mom was able to talk the owner down to $5!! I love it very much. My mom also gave me the teal boudoir-style chair for Christmas one year. She found it at Marshall's!

Your room is fantastic! I have that same bookcase, but in the birch color and it's the BEST. And those birch curtains are really great, and that's an awesome place for them!
