I really love Boston, but it wouldn't be honest of me to say that it doesn't feel different being here after seeing three gorgeous European cities.
As Kate put it the other night, the first city you fall in love with is a big deal.
Boston happens to be the first city I ever fell in love with, and I feel really lucky to live in it. So I'd like to use this summer to fall in love with Boston all over again.

One thing I have learned from moving around a lot is that you MUST fall in love with each and every city you live in. Sometimes it is so easy (like when you were in European cities), sometimes it's a given because we naturally love where we grew up (like how I feel about Monrovia, California) but sometimes it is hard and it takes a long time (like when I first lived in Mississippi). It takes questions like yours to give us a kick in the pants to see the good in every city. What I love about Opelika, Alabama is the kudzu, armadillos, the architecture, true southern gentlemen (they are rare but out there), the unexpected, my post office, the fields filled with horses that I pass everyday, and the vegetables that are sold from the side of the road. Alabama is a magical place.

I completely agree with Fritzi Marie. I'm from Maryland and a year ago moved to Missouri. I keep comparing MO to MD, and I get really homesick. There are no antiques here. The grass is drier. The weather's too unpredictable. There's no ocean. But I'm just recently realizing that I'm gonna be here for a while, and there really is a lot of beauty to this part of the country. And it's cheaper!
