the star of your name

My mom gave me this vintage menu as a late Christmas present. I love it so much. I think it's from a 1940s cabin resort in a forest somewhere. And you all know how much I love pine trees.
My friend Ally just commented that Laurel is one of her favorite names for a girl, and I said I agreed and sometimes I wish it was my first name. She said she liked it as my middle and that it's "the star" of my name but can take a backseat when needed, and I just really loved that!
So where does the star of your name lie - first, middle, or last?

Dearie,
I love your new menu. It reminds me of the cabin resort in White Christmas. Oh, now I can't stop humming, Sisters...
My name is Kathryn Marie. I'm not the biggest fan of it. My Daddy wanted to name me Parker (after the town in Idaho where his mother was born). My Mommy didn't like it. I was going to have my name legally changed in high school but I got over it. I think I like my nicknames the best (Kat, Fritzi, and Kitty).
Laurel is a beautiful star of a name. Just like you, a pretty star.

love love,

Oh, honey. I'm so happy that you love the old menu! Yes, I did flip when I saw it at Vivianna's Vintage!
You know, when we named you Amanda Laurel, we thought both names were quite unique. There weren't any Amanda's that I had ever heard of or knew in person - just tv names at the time.

But when you started preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, etc. we realized BIG time that Amanda was a VERY popular name because there were oodles of little Amanda's running around! I think I considered starting to call you Laurel back then, but after calling you Manda for you first 4-5 years, it just didn't seem right! haha I love Laurel being the star of your name!

Love you! Mummy
