animal crackers in my books.

a sketchbook page from the end of September (while I was watching Mona Lisa Smile!), from my book for The Sketchbook Project Volume 4.
I am currently reading I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. I did not realize how old the book was, and that Dodie also wrote 101 Dalmations! Kind of neat, I think. I have so many events/things I need to write about here soon, and will do so within the next week I think. I haven't been on blogger as much lately and I miss all my blogging friends! I need to keep up with it better. I hope you're all having a wonderful end to your weekend!

Amanda, Oh I love that book! It's so good, I've read it several times. I thought the movie was ok, but not as good.
I loved seeing your sketch page. Mine are NEVER that pretty!

Thank you both so much!
Julie - I didn't know there was a movie! My friend told me she also read the book several times - it makes me excited to read it (if that many people have wanted to read it over and over again!).

Thank you so much for your comment - I'm so enjoying your blog. Your artwork is just beautiful. I love that sketch of yours in a previous post where you looked at a yard from a different angle! I capture that kind of thing in words, and you clearly do it through your drawings. I also love the series of paintings earlier - those women with lovely collars. The Raven-throated Poet was my favourite.

Still haven't seen Mona Lisa Smile, but I'm going to have to find it now!

Oh, and have you read 'The Twilight Barking' by Dodie Smith? It's the sequel to 101 Dalmations, but much, much eerier and darker. It's more of a sci-fi than anything, and it is one of my favourite children's books.

Hi Andrea!
I have not heard of 'The Twilight Barking,' but it reminds me of what I always felt was the scariest part of the disney animated 101 Dalmations, when they're on the dark hill talking about Scotland Yard. I think they say something about Twilight Barking. Was that written also before the animated movie came out? Anyway, it sounds like a book I'd like to read! :)
